10 Ideas on how to store accessories

If you are a girly girl then you must have a lot of accessories, from jewellery to bags, shoes, perfumes and make up. My bathroom stores a lot of my makeup because that's were I usually get ready in the mornings. Jewellery is stored mostly in the bedroom and even though I manage to arrange everything in  a very decent and practical way, I still find myself in a chaos once I start picking what I want to wear. One reason is the fact that I don't manage to rearrange everything the way it was before. So you can imagine that when I saw the below pictures I was very pleased. The best thing is that they offer very practical ideas for storage so that you can actually see all your jewellery before you chose it.

The Frame idea is brilliant. You can take a frame you like, staple or glue a piece of fabric
to it and just pin your jewellery to it.

Similar tray can be found in Ikea

A cake plate to put your perfumes on it

Another usage for you kitchen Bowls, especially if you like to collect them, like me.

What a cool idea to place your bag, once you get home, on a stack of books.

Imagine you put coffee beans instead and you get the smell of coffee as well.

Stylish homes - the perfect home office

I haven't had a desk in my home ever since I moved out of my parents home, and that was a long time ago. I never really felt like I needed one in the flats I lived, maybe also because I spend all day at work behind a desk, and coming home to do the same, is not something you want. But now, the idea of a nice home office seems to appeal to me, and I found some really nice ones on Pinterest. I could see myself loving a space like this in my future home. Basically all you need is a bookshelf, a desk, and a chair that stands out. The rest is just up to your imagination.

I like this one because it is just so simple. I believe the rug and the other accessories
make all the difference.

This is more complex, since it also has a sitting area where you could just enjoy a nice book.

I love yellow, so this is just perfect for me.

This is bit more classy. It makes me think of a modern Madame Bovary sitting there
and looking through the window. Still the chair is a keeper.

OK, you caught me. I clearly have a chair obsession...

This is more shabby chic, but yet again a chair can make all the difference.

Stylish homes

Spring is here! I am saying this while sitting on our balcony, under an umbrella that is suppose to protect me from the sun and thinking of how good everything looks when it is sunny. Including our homes (our flat seems to have been transformed since sun light set in, on Sunday morning). Everything has come to life especially if you count the fresh flowers that are now available at every street corner. I simply love flowers in a home and I find myself missing them if I forget to replace the old ones. I always choose one colour and one type of flower (yellow tulips were my favourite this season). Maybe because they look sophisticated even though it is not some fancy flower arrangement. Also the vase can  be something improvised like what is in the pictures below, or you can just buy a nice vase (I have different round shapes from Ikea in hot pink and blue). And here is some inspiration if you want to have a Spring home.

Stylish homes

Having a home, or a space that you love and feel comfortable in, is for me equally important as having a place that reflects the personality of those who live in it. Transforming a place from something plane into something more special can easily be done with a bit of creativity and a few good ideas. So here I am, always looking for new inspiration and I decided to share my findings with you. This time I will stop at the outdoor space, a terrace or a balcony that can look so gorgeous if we just style it a bit. I remember when we first moved to Switzerland that I was amazed with what people could do with their porch. Here are a few ideas.

1. A small patio, with the nicest pillows and of course the wooden floors
that give it that comfy touch

2. I love hydrangea flowers and the terrace lamps that make every summer evening
feel like you are on holiday

3. As much as we love the sun, we need an umbrella, and I'll always go for a coloured one.

4. Choose a sun bed that simply invites you to take a good book and relax in it

5. If space is limited, a simple chair and round table would do the magic as well.
And you can never go wrong with white

6. Or you can simply take the furniture from your home and move it on the balcony for
the summer. The natural light will do the rest...

If only summer would just decide to come once and for all...

Relaxing on a Saturday

This weekend is a long one for the Swiss residents (bank holiday on Monday) and for us is the weekend before our much awaited London city break. On Wednesday we are flying to Shakespeare's land and for a few days we will enjoy the city and let's not forget, Coldplay live on the Emirates. So our plan for this weekend was to relax as much as possible and to do some stuff around the house. Because the weather was extremely nice, in the afternoon we went for a long walk through the crowded streets of the city and ended up at the botanical garden. It was really cool since it was so peaceful and we could really enjoy the nature and the sun.

I love that you can see the ray of sunshine in this picture

I wish you all an amazing week!

Les Petites Choses

While in Bucharest for the weekend my friend took me to a home decoration store called Bell'Agio Casa where I was pleased to see some really nice pieces of furniture and home accessories. I managed to take a few pictures of some things that I liked.

I think I might be obsessed with bookstores and lately I discovered that I love taking pictures of the books on shelves. It might just be that I want this in my home, but in any case love how they look.

The amazing joy of Friday

I know it's not Friday and you might think I am crazy to write a post about that, but how cool would it be if it were Friday today? Pretty cool I tell you, simply because Fridays are just awesome and if you also have a day off like I have every week (one of the joys of working only 80%) then it's guaranteed that it will be a good day. This was the case this past Friday when the weather, the sun and the city of Zurich made me spend all day outdoors enjoying my day off. I had also a reason to ramble the streets of Zurich, I was looking for some pieces of furniture that would make our new home more interesting. So I decided to visit some Brocken Haus stores where, they say, you can find some nice pieces of old decor. I wasn't lucky enough to find that something that would just impress me to buy it, but I managed to see a few stuff that I love to share with you. So, as it follows, my day off in pictures:

I also went to one of my recent discoveries Cachet, a store that has all this amazing products from furniture and home decor pieces to clothing and jewelry. Everything is hand made and brought from around the world. I took some pictures there as well and I also bought a few stuff.  It's just impossible to leave empty handed. Also if it looks a bit messy it's because the staff was bringing new merchandise and they were just rearranging everything.

Of course the day couldn't end without a quick stop to my regular stores. I have always said that Zurich is a great city but when it comes to shopping, from my perspective it is a bit poor. So I always find myself in the same stores when it comes to clothing, H&M, Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti and a few others but the choice mainly ends here. And when faced with a shopping spree I often go online also. But this Friday I bumped into this nice pair of sandals in Mango that just had my name on it. I call them One more reason to wish for summer to come sooner :)

Enjoy the week luvies!
