The past two weekends

Is there a more happier time than weekends? I don't think so, or I haven't managed to find an equivalent still. I just love Saturday mornings when I get up and I know I don't have to get dressed right away and rush out the door. I can just sip my coffee and enjoy my breakfast until noon and then I can indulge in my favorite activities. Last weekend was Easter for us (Orthodox Easter was celebrated one week later then the Catholic holiday, it's a calendar thing, more info here) and we decided to have a nice Sunday meal with our Romanian friends. It felt so good and it made me remember my parents home and all the traditions we had as I grew up. But I don't want to get nostalgic, so I will just let you know that we cooked some Easter dishes that were a delight to eat.

I wanted to take a picture of this colored slippers/socks and of course that
Mitzi, curious as we know her, wanted to be in the picture
This weekend was all about relaxing. Friday evening, after our workout (we've started exercising this week and after a few sessions we are now starting to regain muscle control) me and Traian, enjoyed a nice homemade fruit salad bowl while watching our favorite TV shows. Saturday we decided to hit the town by bike and make some exploring. It was very nice, because even if we lived in Zurich for a year now, I still fell that I know so little of it. So every time we start rambling the streets we discover something new and beautiful. It's a great feeling...

I felt especially stylish riding this city bike
Cotton candy at the Children's Fair in Bürkliplatz

I couldn't believe there was no one in the park, but once the sun is up it will be populated again.

How to style a public fountain?  I think this pics says it all.
I love bookstores, I could just spend hours in them and
the English Bookstore on Bahnhofstrasse is no exception. I even wanted to get
a job there :))

I hope you had a good weekend as well. I wish you an even better week!

Ski weekend part 2

Schatzalp

The view from our room

As promised, I still have to share some pics from our weekend in Davos. The hotel, Schatzalp (in English, the treasure in the mountains) has this great story. It was built at the end of the 19th century and from 1900 to 1950 it was a Sanatorium. The architecture of the place is still intact and as I went through the doors I felt that I was transported at the beginning of the century. Thomas Mann, the famous German writer, found inspiration here when he was visiting his sick wife in the summer of 1912. His stay became the foundation of the opening chapter (Arrival) of the novel The Magic Mountain, in German Der ZauberbergWe were very pleased to discover the history behind the place. The view from the room was amazing and the food in the restaurant was to die for. A very special weekend!

The food was delightful

I just loved this soup pot, oh and also the soup :)

One of the cats from the hotel. So cute

Hello Kitty!

Ski weekend part 1

This past weekend we took our city posteriors to the mountains for 2 days of ski. The weather was very capricious, and we were able to ski only on Saturday but I have to say that it was enough considering it was the first time I put the ski boots on in years (when I was a child my dad had an attempt to teach me to ski, but I was so scared that I tried once and gave up. My brother, on the other hand, is quite good). It was a great day because I managed to surprise myself. I started going on the children slope and after a few tries moved on to the bigger slope. I didn't start at the top of the mountain because I don't have any technique yet but I managed to have more than a few goes from the middle of the slope. It was beautiful and I can't wait to get better and better. Finally something to look for next winter (as you might know I am not a winter fan). Traian was in the same situation as me, he never tried skiing before (he has the excuse of being born and raised at the seaside) but he managed quite good. So proud of us, baby!

This was our first ski trip. Hopefully more will come in the future.

And here I go fearlessly. What a great feeling it is.

And of course Traian too

Traian camera ready. Say: Cheese :))

And the five musketeers, seven if I count my friend Emilia and the baby boy that is growing in her belly.
She was the photographer since obviously she didn't ski.

Not dead, but exhausted, those boots are heavyyyy :))
Part II of our trip is following tomorrow. Stay tuned :)))

Les Petites Choses

It has been a while since I put together this column, not because I was lacking inspiration, but because I was busy joggling and getting accustomed with work, wedding planning, moving and then some...So there are a lot of pretty little things that made my Iphone camera go on and that make everyday life nicer and enjoyable.

Huge Flower Pot that would look so good on our terrace

It's tulips season and I absolutely adore them. They look so good on my dinner table.

Decorating idea for the garden

Best ice cream in Switzerland ant not only, if you ask me, from Movenpick

Ok, I was out of work for some time (if someone is intrigued why I took a picture in the restroom) but this is what we have in the ladies room at work. This makes me love and enjoy that place even more.

I could eat this everyday

My new and my old name put together on our mail box :))

I love this picture of the Zurich Lake even if it was made on a cloudy day.
It looks so peaceful.

Have a great week, full of pretty little things!
