And the hat is on

I am a hat fan, and I've been one ever since I remember. As a child I used to wear my grandpa's hats and I remember that for one of our school festivities I had a red hat on that belonged to one of my Mum's friends. She lend it to me and I was really pleased to wear it. Now, when I can chose and buy my own hats I find myself having quite a few. The last one I got is from a Romania Designer, Kristina Dragomir. I discovered her while looking for bridal accessories and I was amazed to see her creations. I decided to wear my new hat with a casual outfit while out in the city. I simply love the color combination.

Wedding Special - The reception

For the reception we had a lot of ideas, since you can imagine, we had a year to plan. I have to thank my mother in law since she was the one that took care of a lot of the planning, she had great ideas, she took initiative but always kept in mind what me and Traian wanted. She was the perfect wedding planner. We wanted to have vintage elements and we managed in the end to have a romantic vintage themed wedding.

One thing we did, was to gather pictures from our parents and grandparents weddings, frame them and put them on display in a special corner. The desk contained also the memoir book where the guests could share a few words with us and  a lot of old elements that belonged to our loved ones. It was our way of honoring our family, especially the ones that are no longer with us, and whom we miss so much.

Our wedding invite was a bike themed one, and we wanted to incorporate this in our decor. It was very special.

For the tables we went with two types of centerpieces. One was the chandelier and the other one, was the lamp, that again were my mother in law's creation. And we also went with small flower arrangement's spread all over the tables and the restaurant.

For the cake we chose to go with with and with a lace pattern. We put only a pink hydrangea on top. As flavor it was red velvet with red fruit.

The first dance was another special moment for us. We chose the song together. I remember that it was after we set the date, that we were driving back from Romania and we had just bought from a gas station the newest album from Elvis Presley, Viva Elvis. When the song Can't help falling in love with you (remix version) started we looked at each other and we knew this was it. It sounds cheesy, I know, but it was just one of those moments that I will remember all my life. We took some dance lessons before the wedding and learned a simple choreography. It helped a lot and made the hole dancing moment perfect.

I just love the looks of our friends in the background :)

Wedding Special - Our first look

We insisted on having a special moment just the two of us before the ceremony. A moment where we would see each other for the first time as bride and groom. Traian was kept in the dark when it came to my dress and I was really excited to see his reaction. Actually I remember that we were both in our hotel rooms waiting to start to get ready, and I haven't eaten anything that day. I knew I had to eat something so I asked him to bring me something to the room and leave it in front of the door, and just knock (I was not wearing the dress but I had my hair an makeup done and I didn't want him to see me). And then the moment came...We were on the 11 floor in the hotel and we were both so happy. Take a look. I still feel the chills now.

Wedding special - What we wore?

Finally, after two very long months, all the pictures from our wedding are ready. And now is time to share with you a few details, from all the planning and of course, the results. Special thanks to all that contributed to this great day for us. I will start with what the bride and groom wore. We wanted something simple and elegant, with a hint of vintage. As per my dress, I knew I wanted a designer dress that would be sexy but not too much, fluid, well fitted and not white. Yes, I didn't really want a white dress, and I still regret that I didn't go with light pink. But maybe for our 25th wedding anniversary! When I discovered Maria Lucia Hohan's dresses, I fell instantly in love with them. From the fabric, to the design, the dress was perfect and it made me feel so special and ready to face the big day.

The shoes were again very well researched. If you remember this post, you will understand my choice. They have the right amount of sparkle for me to feel special, they were comfortable enough to get me through most of the day, and they were very reasonable in price. I think finding the right shoes was more time consuming then deciding on the actual dress. And imagine my surprise when I walked into a Zara store in Zurich, looking for anything else then wedding shoes, and bumping into these beauties (actually Traian was the one that showed them to me :) I guess it was meant to be.

As per the accessories, I didn't want too much because as one of my friends said, the actual dress is more than you need that day. So I chose to wear only earnings and a bracelet that my mother in law ordered for me to a Romanian jewelry designer, Daniela Bordeanu. The clutch, was my something old, it was the one that Traian's Mum wore on her wedding day and it was just perfect to fit in all the essentials that a bride needs to have with her on that day.

The headpiece was also handmade by a very nice lady from Mery's in Zurich. It was made with a piece of the fabric of the dress. I went for a fascinator instead of a veil because I felt it was more me, and it matched better the dress.

The weeding bouquet was a combination of flowers. Besides the peonies and the colors, the rest was all the florist choice and talent.

The groom's outfit was put together by a very talented Romanian stylist, Adina Buzatu. After I told her about the dress I'd picked and the kind of wedding we were planning, she put together this outfit for Traian. He liked it instantly and felt very comfortable wearing it. I absolutely loved the color of the jacket and the detailing. It was just the right amount of color without being too flashy. He looked stunning!

And finally a picture of the two of us. All the pictures were made by the talented photographers from Adora Studio.
