Les Petites Choses

The idea of this post came to me while reading a blog that I recently discovered and I like very much, Cupcakes and Cashmere. There are a lot of small things that we see around us, that we buy or would like to buy, that we receive as a present or that we simply admire and love. In the spirit of all that I decided to post every once in a while, pictures with the things  that inspire me and make my days and my life beautiful.

So Les Petites Choses (I've chosen French because I love the little French in me) that I put together for today are:

              A chic retro corner in our apartment. Table, Mirror and Room Divider by Ikea.

New fragrance that I absolutely adore, Elle by YSL, B-day present from my dear friends.

                                     

                                               

 

                  I love Paraguayos, it's the fruit of the summer for me. They kick normal peaches ass :)

Swiss Summer

These days we are having 30+ degrees in Zurich. It is the hottest period this summer so I guess the Swiss summer came in late this year. Since I love summer, this is perfect for me and my favorite place these days is the pool. There is nothing better than a sunny day by the pool with a good book. Everyone is cooling off by the lake in Zurich or by the river or simply in the park. Total relaxation....

Lovely weekend

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was full of beautiful things and discoveries. Being in Switzerland you have to see the mountains and that’s what we did with our Saturday. We went for a Swiss hike to the lake of Bachalpsee situated at an altitude of 2,265 m. It was a 2 hours walk in which I discovered that although the view and the scenery were breathtaking, I remain a city girl. I mean who goes hiking wearing a skirt, flat sandals and of course a matching purse? Oh yeah, me J I was the only one there that thought a walk in the mountains was not very different from a walk in the park. I’m not very proud of myself but in my defense I was told it was an easy ride. All that aside, it was worth it because the lake, the cows grazing on top of the mountains made this sunny Saturday a wonderful one.

On Sunday we did the celebration brunch for our wedding with some of our friends that also live in Zurich. It was very chill and we had a good time. The weekend ended with a BBQ on our terrace, with lots of good mood, exactly what is needed before the beginning of a new week.

New books on my shelf

As you might know, I love to read and to discover new authors and new titles. Since I moved to Zurich, I’ve purchased my books at the English bookstore, but recently we discovered that it was more cheap and easy to purchase our books online from www.amazon.de And a few days ago, I got my first order of books. I’ve chosen 3 authors I haven’t read before at the suggestion of a friend who already read them. I’m sharing with you a picture of my new additions to my library. Of course, I will also share my thoughts with you after I finish reading them. So for what’s left of summer and your holidays, enjoy a good book!

Good timing for a change

Seasons change, people change, life changes and now is time for my blog to change. I’ve been on a very long break from blogging partly because I didn’t feel like writing, my inspiration got lost in all the changes that were going around me. But now hopefully we are off to a new start, a more fabulous one! I also decided to switch to English and see how it feels.

And to kick the new blogging season, I have to speak about yesterday, 15 of August 2011. This date will have a very different meaning from now on, for me and my loved one. We got married yesterday in an intimate ceremony in Kloten, Switzerland and it was without doubt one of the most special moments of our lives.

And like all the special things in life, this was so unexpectedly wonderful because we thought that the ceremony was going to be just a simple civil ceremony like the ones we’ve already seen back home. I mean we all know that the religious ceremony is the most emotional and full of meaning. But to our surprise, things are done differently here and from the music that we were allowed to choose ourselves to the text of the civil officer, everything was full of meaning. We had only a few friends with us because of the location, but we felt so special and blessed, that it was like everyone else was there. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t change a thing. It was our special day.  

Also I have to share the poem that was read to us during the ceremony because I think it shows the true meaning of life. It was translated from German to Romanian and now in English, so I hope I haven’t lost all of its true meaning.

Time to live
